The Biological Sciences are in the midst of a revolution that will have major ramifications for progress in this century. To maintain and enhance its status among the leading research institutions in the world, the Division of Biological Sciences (DBS) recently hired some of the best and brightest in the field, bringing its current number of faculty to 66. Within the next few years, the Division plans a major expansion of its research and teaching faculty to well over 100, expanding some current areas of research and venturing into new ones, such as bioinformatics. This growing body of knowledge, talent, and creativity will enable the Division to enhance its roles as a leader in innovative research and in the training of the next generation of biologists.
