RESEARCH & COLLABORATION

 

 

UCSD Biological Sciences is a well established and highly respected leader in biological research, with several of its subdisciplines rated in the top ten worldwide. Biological research at UCSD represents a broad spectrum of interests, including plant biology, cell & developmental biology, immunology, cancer biology, ecology, and molecular biology, to name a few. Added to these specialty areas are the recently established interdisciplinary initiatives in stem cell research and systems biology.

The goal of BioCORE is to build collaborations that strengthen San Diego's leadership position in biotechnology and increase research capacity. BioCORE enhances productivity and innovation in a number of ways, including building collaborations between university and industry research laboratories, initiating collective activities to strengthen faculty and industry innovative capacities, facilitating prompt technology transfer, and supporting solutions to mutual problems and concerns.
